My artwork is consistently made with a message that understanding and accepting impermanence and insubstantiality of this world can liberate us from suffering and lead us to live a mindful life. After moving to New York, my long embraced skills and materials: over 25 years\u2019 experience of traditional Yuzen Kimono Dye using silk fabric for kimono shifted to new mode of depiction. For instance, an installation of three layered extremely thin silk organza or silk gauze being dyed and hanging at intervals, sculptures using silk gauze, cotton flower, and spiders web with unwoven or raw silk thread. I also applied a large tapestry assembled Chinese characters drawn with water soluble glue and Sumi Ink. Even kimono making, I tried a new approach, which I burned silk organza with incense and made openwork textiles for Japanese wedding ceremony kimonos. All those artistic practice are intended to depict ephemerality and fragility, which viewers can feel fleeting and vulnerability of our life and aware of the importance of this moment.<\/p>\n
